Barclays Wealth appoints Solomon Soquar as Head of the Strategic Solutions Group

Barclays Wealth, a leading global wealth manager, today announces the appointment of Solomon Soquar as Managing Director, Head of the Strategic Solutions Group (SSG). The SSG is one of the core pillars of the firm’s ultra-high net worth (UHNW) proposition and this appointment is a significant step in its build-out. Solomon will report to Stefanie Drews, who joined Barclays Wealth as Head of UHNW and Family Offices for UK & EMEA in September 2010.

The SSG provides access to Barclays Capital and Barclays Corporate when their expertise in products and services is required to provide strategic solutions for UHNW clients. The SSG also provides access to our Investment Club, which offers both client-to-client and third party opportunities.

Solomon joins us from Citi Private Bank, where he was a Managing Director and head of Capital Markets for EMEA. Prior to his seven years at Citi, he worked at Merrill Lynch as Head of Distribution for Private Clients. Previously, Solomon has worked at Goldman Sachs and Bankers Trust in Corporate Finance and Capital Markets respectively.

Commenting on the appointment, Stefanie Drews said: "We are making great strides in the ultra space and believe that, in the SSG, we have a truly stand-out capability. It is imperative that we have the right person co-ordinating interaction with Barclays Capital and Barclays Corporate for our UHNW clients, and Solomon brings with him an impressive track record and an outstanding reputation. Sitting alongside our expertise in credit, wealth structuring, brokerage and intelligent investment solutions, the SSG will be instrumental in bringing Barclays to the client."
