Barclays Wealth appoints Urban Wilde to manage the coverage of risk issues across Asia Pacific

Barclays Wealth, the global wealth management division of Barclays PLC, today announces the appointment of Mr. Urban Wilde as Managing Director, Chief Risk Officer, Asia Pacific, effective 2 August 2010.  He reports functionally to Mark Cooke, Chief Risk Officer, Barclays Wealth, and regionally to Didier von Daeniken, Chief Executive, Barclays Wealth Asia Pacific.

Based in Singapore, Mr. Wilde will be responsible for managing the coverage of risk issues across Asia Pacific, including providing independent oversight and assessment of the risk framework design, implementation and effectiveness.  He will oversee the Operational Risk and Credit Risk teams across the region, and will also be a member of the Barclays Wealth Asia Pacific Management Committee.

Prior to joining Barclays Wealth, Mr. Wilde was with UBS where he spent more than 20 years. He brings with him significant experience in Credit Risk functions across regions, including Head of Credit Risk Control for Americas, Head of International Credit Risk Management and for the period covering 2005 to 2009, Chief Credit Officer Asia Pacific. Most recently, he was Managing Director, Strategic Projects with the Risk team based in Zurich.

Mr. Wilde's appointment follows on the heels of recent senior leadership appointments made by Barclays Wealth across Asia Pacific in the past six months, including Singapore-based Srinivas Siripurapu, as Managing Director, Head of South Asia and Southeast Asia, and Market Manager South Asian Community; Vikram Malhotra, as Managing Director, Head of South Asia; Bryan Henning, as Managing Director, Head of Global Research and Investments, Asia, as well as Hong Kong-based Helen Pun as Market Head of Hong Kong.
