Barclays Wealth appoints Pakorn Boonyakurkul as Head of North Asia

Industry heavyweight's proven track record and leadership qualities crucial in charting the firm’s next phase of growth in the region
Barclays Wealth, the global wealth management division of Barclays PLC, today announces the appointment of Pakorn Boonyakurkul as Managing Director, Head of North Asia, effective 3 May 2011.
Mr. Boonyakurkul will lead the bankers based in Hong Kong, spearheading the wealth management business across Greater China and North Asia, as Barclays Wealth continues to tap the growth of wealth in its key target markets across Asia Pacific. He will join the Barclays Wealth Asia Pacific Management Committee, and report to Didier von Daeniken, Chief Executive, Barclays Wealth Asia Pacific.
In a banking career spanning 30 years, including 25 years in private banking, Mr. Boonyakurkul has assumed senior leadership roles in various financial institutions including Citi Private Bank and Bankers' Trust. Most recently, he was a Managing Director at HSBC Private Bank, overseeing 200 employees, and responsible for both the onshore and offshore private banking business in the markets of Japan and Taiwan, the offshore Philippines as well as the Non Resident Indian segment, over the past eight years.
