Carole Cheung appointed to manage ultra high net worth clients in Asia

Barclays Wealth, the global wealth management division of Barclays PLC, has appointed Ms. Carole Cheung as Managing Director, Senior Client Partner, based in Hong Kong, effective 3 May 2011, in a further demonstration of its success in attracting senior private banking talent.

Ms. Cheung will focus on managing the relationships of ultra high net worth clients in Asia, leveraging the capabilities of Barclays Capital - the investment banking division of Barclays PLC - in providing client-focused solutions to cater to the sophisticated needs of this particular client segment. She reports to Mr. Pakorn Boonyakurkul, Head of North Asia.

Ms. Cheung has more than 27 years of private banking and investment banking experience, including senior roles at Citi and JPMorgan previously. At HSBC since 2000, Ms. Cheung was Managing Director, Relationship Management (Mega-Wealth Asia). There, she focused on relationships in the segment of "mega-wealth" clients, and was responsible for managing their private and business wealth management needs.

Barclays Wealth has made several senior hires in 2011. In April 2011, Barclays Wealth announced the hire of Pakorn Boonyakurkul as Head of North Asia, and in March 2011, announced 12 senior director-level appointments within the private banking business across Asia Pacific.
